Kingston/Lucindale vs Redlegs – Under 13

Kingston/Lucindale took on Redlegs on a very wet, windy, and chilly morning—all rolled into one. Both teams were short on players due to the school holidays, which was probably a blessing in disguise, as it meant less time on the bench for the kids and less chance of cooling down in the tough conditions.

This was a closely contested match, with both sides creating plenty of scoring opportunities. Through the midfield, Kingston/Lucindale teammates Connor Hillyer, John Clothier and Archie Loechel combined well, producing some excellent passages of play and linking up with great passing, but they were unlucky not to be rewarded thanks to the strong Redlegs defence.

At the other end of the field, Redlegs also mounted several dangerous attacks, but Kingston/Lucindale full backs Jade Taylor and Evelyn Loechel stood firm, shutting down their forward play with some strong defensive efforts.

It was also fantastic to see new K/L players Riley Culbertson and Mae Trott getting involved throughout the game. Both showed great determination, never gave up, and contributed with some excellent passes and plenty of effort around the contest. By the final quarter, the demanding conditions had taken their toll and both teams were clearly feeling the effects. However, Redlegs found that little bit extra in the closing minutes, scoring with only a couple of minutes remaining to secure a hard-fought 1–0 victory.

Kingston/Lucindale vs Dartmoor – Women

The Kingston/Lucindale Rangers took on Dartmoor in what proved to be an entertaining and hard-fought contest. While Dartmoor came away with a 4–1 victory, the scoreboard didn’t reflect just how well the K/L defence battled throughout the game.

Dartmoor’s goals came from some excellent team play, with patient build-up and strong passing creating their scoring opportunities. However, Kingston/Lucindale’s defensive unit was outstanding for much of the match, working tirelessly to limit Dartmoor’s chances and making them earn every goal.

Dartmoor also had the opportunity to extend their lead from a penalty stroke after a foot behind the goalkeeper prevented a goal from a short corner, but they were unable to convert the chance.

The match had its fair share of intensity, with Kingston/Lucindale receiving a green card following a poor tackle. To their credit, they responded well in the second half, showing great resilience by tightening up defensively and restricting Dartmoor’s scoring opportunities.

K/L’s persistence was rewarded in the final quarter when Nicola Turner showed outstanding determination to score her side’s only goal, giving the Rangers a well-deserved reward for their effort right to the final whistle.

Despite the result, both teams produced an enjoyable game played in good spirit, with Dartmoor capitalising on their opportunities and the Kingston/Lucindale Rangers showing plenty of character and determination throughout.
