Pushed to the Edge: Under 13s Provide Extra-Time Drama
Most semi-final match-ups were settled in regular time, but the U13s took the excitement to another level in a thrilling extra-time battle. 🏑

Kingston/Lucindale vs Dartmoor – Under 13
A beautiful day greeted both teams for the first round of the finals.
Dartmoor controlled the game for much of the first half, with KL relying on fast breaks to create opportunities. Kingston Lucindale were first to score, with John Clothier getting the ball past the Dartmoor defence.
The game evened out after half-time as both teams began to tire in the heat. Just a minute into the second half, Hugo Frost found the back of the goals to level the scores.
With neither side able to break the deadlock, the game went into overtime. After five minutes of overtime, the teams swapped sides and continued the battle.
Hugo Frost eventually found the winning goal in overtime, but it was a fantastic team effort from the entire Dartmoor side, with everyone contributing to a hard-fought finals victory.
A great contest between two determined teams who should both be proud of their efforts in the sunshine.

Greenbottles vs Redlegs – Under 13
It was a beautiful morning for hockey and both teams came out strong and eager to cement their place in the grand final.
Greenbottles, with their usual effective team play, put the Redlegs’ defensive unit to work early, capitalising with two quick, clean goals. Greenbottles continued to attack, however, Redlegs’ defence as a whole stood firm under fire and denied many scoring opportunities.
Greenbottles were momentarily caught off guard which enabled a run up the pitch by Redlegs into their circle. A subsequent short corner was converted into a brilliant goal, which happens to be the first goal scored against Greenbottles for the season. Greenbottles responded swiftly, turning over possession to net another goal, along with several more as the game played-out.
Credit goes to Redlegs, who fought fiercely all game. Good luck to Redlegs and to Dartmoor who meet in the preliminary final next week.

Tatiara vs Redlegs – Under 16
A spring evening met the u16 teams in a do or die clash. Will, Lachie and Levi pressed hard for Tat’s but Redlegs were desperate in defence through Ollie W, Seth G and Hadleigh in goals.
Tatiara went on a goal spree with Oisin, Scarlett and Lachie hitting the backboard before an unfortunate injury to Redlegs goalie sent Seth in as a replacement but Tatiara continued to score with Levi pushing in a deflection off Seth’s pads. Tatiara were playing a strong team game finishing with 5 goals for the quarter.
Redlegs started to hit their straps in the second quarter putting great pressure on Tats’ midfielders and forwards and moving the ball smoothly themselves.
Tatiara managed to scramble a goal from a powerful hit from Lachie.
The second half was a close contest of free flowing skillful hockey with both teams not giving an inch . Tatiara’s Rufus found himself in the circle and with spectacular miss-hit found Scarlett eager to push in her second goal.
That was the last goal for the game with both teams keeping up the intensity until the final whistle.
The match ended as a 7-0 win for Tatiara who will continue their season next week in the preliminary finals.

Dartmoor vs Greenbottles – Under 16
It has been a great contest between these two teams all year, and today was another fantastic battle.
It was a hot final day, providing an extra challenge for both teams. Dartmoor came out strong, working the ball around the field well. They used their back and cross passes beautifully, made great use of the width of the field and also used their overhead passes effectively to move the ball and create space.
As usual, Greenbottles’ defence worked hard together, doing a great job of keeping Dartmoor out and making them work for every opportunity. Dartmoor’s teamwork continued to shine through, with some excellent passing, positioning and movement from all players.
Greenbottles fought back with some great runs into their forward line. Their forwards combined well and put the Dartmoor defence under plenty of pressure, with Dartmoor’s goalie, Nate, making a spectacular diving save to hold off their shots on goal.
Dartmoor came out on top 3–0 after a well-fought game. A fantastic display of teamwork, determination and effort from both sides. Congratulations to both teams on a great contest!

Kingston/Lucindale vs Tatiara – Women
The Kingston/Lucindale Rangers women took on Tatiara in a competitive and fast-paced contest, with the Rangers coming away with a well-earned 3–1 victory.
The Rangers opened the scoring early after a well-worked attacking play saw the ball passed across the face of goal and tapped in to give K/L the lead. Tatiara responded quickly, finding an equaliser soon after to ensure the game remained evenly poised.
Both teams continued to attack with intent, creating opportunities through quick ball movement and strong teamwork. The Rangers regained the lead through some excellent second efforts and sharp passing, capitalising on their persistence around the contest.
The game was played at a high intensity throughout, with both sides making good use of the width of the field through frequent switching of play and quick drives towards goal. With both teams aware that a loss would mean elimination, the final quarter saw the intensity lift even further as each side pushed hard for the result.
It was the Rangers who were able to seal the game, scoring their third goal in the final quarter to create some breathing room and secure an important 3–1 win.
The match was a great display of competitive hockey, with both teams showing determination and skill, but the Rangers’ teamwork, quick passing and ability to take their chances proved the difference

Rising temperatures added an extra test of endurance on the final day, pushing both teams to their absolute limits.
Dartmoor came out strong combining well up forward with beautiful passing to score early. Greenbottles defence did well to block many Dartmoor goal attempts but Darts teamwork shone through and showed on the scoreboard.
Greenbottles fought back having great runs into their forward line, combining well and putting Darts defence under pressure. Dartmoor did well to hold off Greenbottles’ shots on goal.
The heat showed as both teams were tiring and trying hard to push through to the end with Darts coming out on top after a well fought game. Great team work from both sides.

Greenbottles vs Dartmoor – Men
The game started at quite a subdued pace with both teams concerned about the unusually warm conditions. Greenbottles’ Cam Taylor scored two goals in quick succession, which secured an early lead and seemed to temporarily throw Dartmoor’s focus.
The second quarter was a much tighter affair though as Greenbottles began to tire and Dartmoor began winning the 50/50 contests and midfield battles. Greenbottles regrouped during the halftime break, which was much needed after having just defended an onslaught of short corners.
The third quarter saw a changing of the guard for Greenbottles, with a lot of the younger players standing up to Dartmoor’s pressure. Another Greenbottles goal by young Henry Gerritsen early in the quarter was against the play and created a much-appreciated 2-0 lead. Dartmoor young guns Eddie Dolphin and Jesse Lewis along with senior players like Jack Thompson and John Sadler soon came to the forefront with a lot of attack in and around the circle. Luckily for Greenbottles, Col Andrews in goals and Matt Waugh at the back were able to defend solidly and prevent any scoring.
The final quarter was an arm wrestle in the midfield with Greenbottles brothers Henry and Toby Boord controlling the ball despite pressure from young Dartmoor Mason White and hefty defence from Michael Hutchesson. This kept Dartmoor in the game, however, a late goal to complete Taylor’s hattrick was enough to seal the game for Greenbottles, who will meet Tatiara in the preliminary final.

Redlegs vs Tatiara – Men
The mens game between Redlegs and Tatiara had everyone watching on the edge of their seats. With good attacking from both teams, and even better defence, the first quarter was able to end scoreless.
The second half began with determination flooding the field. Each player wanting to win the game for their team and secure a place in the 2026 NDHA grand final. Just before the end of the half, Rohan Longbottom swept the ball across the circle, sending it directly into the back board.
Both goalies exercised their brilliant skills, and proved why they are the main defenders of the team. The quarter was ended with a goal for Redlegs, adding to the suspense of the game. The final quarter of the match consisted of lots of running from both teams, and they each fought hard to score the last goal.
Finally, Jacob Edwards received the ball from the top of the circle and was able to hit it in past the Tatiara goalkeeper, giving Redlegs the 2-1 win, putting them into the grand final in a fortnight.
