Tight Battle, Decisive Finish: Dartmoor Takes the Win
In another characteristically tight and hard fought contest, Dartmoor’s sharp finishing once again made all the difference.

Greenbottles vs Dartmoor – Under 13
Greenbottles’ teamwork has been exceptional over the season year and was once again on point this game. The long list of goal scorers reflects a team approach to scoring, as well as the maturity and selflessness of the older players who have faith in their younger counterparts.
Despite some good efforts to press forward, Dartmoor were unable to get close to their circle. Meanwhile, Greenbottles applied constant pressure and kept the ball in their own attack. Some excellent tackles by Dartmoor in defence and terrific saves by the goalie thwarted many Greenbottles attempts at goal.
As usual, Greenbottles players did well negotiating unfamiliar territory as they were rotated around the field to gain experience in different positions. Thanks to Syd Sommerville who put his hand up to be goalie this week; a volunteer goalie has become the norm this season as it allows the regular goalie to have some field time and be more involved in the game. Well done to both teams and their coaches for a game played in good spirits. It’s exciting to see both individual player and team progression over the season in both clubs.

Greenbottles vs Dartmoor – Women
Greenbottles and Dartmoor played their usual tight and competitive game but when it came to scoring, Dartmoor yet again proved the better team.
Greenbottles demonstrated some confident forward play bringing the ball through the centre into their attack but were blocked by a wall of black. They also had their fair share of play in the circle and of short corners but, frustratingly for them, could not convert, with many shots going wide and many being denied by the goalie. Only Jada Copping was able to score for Greenbottles with her signature powerful hit during a short corner.
In contrast, Dartmoor not only made effective use of the entire field but were able to finish-off through ever-reliable Brooke Green, who dominated the scoring with three goals. Further super smooth teamwork was ultimately rewarded with a goal by Grace Gale, who, by reading the play well, received a nice pass across the goal face and deflected the ball into the corner for Dartmoor’s fourth.
Greenbottles’ women appreciated the effort and stamina of the five U13 girls for whom the women’s match was their third game in a row. They are fortunate to have a such a reliable source of willing juniors to fill the team each week, and also to have injured field player Anna McGregor regularly don the pads in the absence of a dedicated goalie.
