Redlegs vs Kingston/Lucindale – Under 16
Both Redlegs and Kingston/Lucindale Rangers came out firing from the first whistle, hungry for possession and determined to control the game. The opening stages saw both teams competing fiercely for the ball, with Redlegs gaining the early advantage and enjoying periods of strong possession.
After several turnovers between the two sides, Nate Haynes showcased his skill and determination in the attacking circle, earning Redlegs a short corner opportunity. Kingston/Lucindale Rangers’ defence stood firm, however, turning the play to their advantage. They worked the ball strategically through the middle of the field, linking up well between players before driving into the attacking circle. Redlegs’ goalkeeper reacted quickly, making a strong save and clearing the danger with a powerful kick.
KL Rangers continued to apply pressure, and their persistence soon paid off. With constant movement and smart positioning, they worked the ball back into the attacking circle where Amelia Johns found the back of the net to score the opening goal of the match.
Redlegs responded strongly in the second quarter, making excellent use of their midfield players to move the ball through the centre of the field. Some impressive skill and teamwork created another short corner opportunity, although they were unable to convert. It was a well-balanced quarter, with both teams creating chances and competing hard across the field.
The second half saw Redlegs dominate much of the play, using the width of the field effectively to create attacking opportunities. KL Rangers remained dangerous, however, with quick interceptions and smooth transitions allowing them to launch several attacking runs of their own. They controlled possession well and made good use of their supporting players. Redlegs’ defence was outstanding throughout, with Ollie Williams creating space and repeatedly clearing the ball from defensive pressure.
In the final quarter, Redlegs continued to control much of the possession and worked well as a team to move the ball down the field. Jezabel Ingenito provided some strong running and attacking drive, helping to push play forward. However, KL Rangers’ defence remained disciplined and composed, producing some excellent tackles and skilful defensive work to shut down scoring opportunities. The game came to an end, rewarding Kingston/Lucindale with a 1-0 win.
