Greenbottles v Kingston/Lucindale – Under 13
Greenbottles’ smooth teamwork was evident immediately as Winnie Schinckel cleverly used her team mates to swiftly move the ball to their circle. Kingston/Lucindale worked hard to clear the ball but Greenbottles’ perseverance paid off as Alice Fry scored a clean opening goal. An effective hit up the wing by Toby Holden-Young ended in a solid shot on goal by Lottie Legoe but it was saved by Kingston/Lucindale’s Amelia Johns who had again bravely volunteered to be goalie. Oscar Rowland then forced a short for Greenbottles but no score resulted.
Kingston/Lucindale’s teamwork was also on display as the skilled Clothier siblings, Rebecca and John, helped KL push forward. Young Kingston/Lucindale players Lachie Munro and Pippa Menzel joined the contest while Maggie Legoe demonstrated some excellent dribbling control up the wing only to be intercepted by Greenbottles’ Eddie Fitzgerald.
Early in the second quarter, Alice Fry added a second goal. There were tense moments for Greenbottles as Kingston/Lucindale held the ball up their end, including earning a few short corners. But in a quick turnover, Greenbottles’ Angus McGregor seized control and scored a wonderful goal on the run.
In the third quarter, Annabel Menzel fed Elle Copping, whose well-timed cross to Hilary Schinckel resulted in a sharp deflection goal for Greenbottles. Kingston/Lucindale responded with pressure and a strong shot from John Clothier, which was saved by goalie Seb Holden-Young. Samantha Heddles – KL’s reliable fullback – cleared the ball but effective tackling by Henry Thring saw the ball back into Greenbottles’ circle.
Tackling, tussles and interceptions continued into the fourth quarter, including a ‘battle of the Lachies’ – Withers from Greenbottles and young Munro from KL. Kingston/Lucindale did well to thwart multiple attempts at goals as Greenbottles dominated possession, but Angus McGregor scored again with a smooth sweep.
Teamwork, as well as the level of participation from younger players, stood out in this game.
The game made sideline viewers sit on the edge of their seat as the match ended a 5 – 0 win for Greenbottles.

Greenbottles v Dartmoor – Women
Dartmoor scored early in a short corner through a clean, punchy hit by the talented Jane Agnew. Greenbottles responded with some confident forward play bringing the ball into their attack. Emily Clark’s relentless effort in the circle paid off when she sent the ball goalward, allowing Becky Schubert to pounce and tuck it neatly into the corner of the goals.
The second quarter echoed the first. Frantic action in Dartmoor’s circle resulted in a goal by Hunter Adams to restore their lead. But soon after, Greenbottles’ Di Schinckel broke down the wing and delivered a well-placed cross to Eliza Withers. Eliza sent the ball towards Lucy Possingham who was perfectly positioned on the post to deflect it over the goal line.
A standout moment later came from Dartmoor junior Ollie Marshall, making his senior debut, when he took advantage of a loose ball near the goals and calmly slotted it in to secure Dartmoor’s win.
Overall, the game was evenly fought and enjoyable to play, and watch. The match ended as a 3-2 win for Dartmoor.
