Close scores and lots of determined players resulted in ‘edge of the seat’ matches.

Kingston/Lucindale best: Rebecca Clothier, Jade Taylor, Lachie Munro
Redlegs best: Sydney Somerville, Jezabel Ingenito, George Law
Kingston/Lucindale v Redlegs – Under 13
The first quarter started off strong for both teams, with Kingston/Lucindale’s attack working hard to get the ball through the midfield only to be stopped by Redlegs’ tight defence. Syd Somerville shut down many of Rebecca Clothier’s passes to her teammates through the centre, as well as doing good drives into attack alongside his fellow attackers.
In the second quarter Kingston/Lucindale tried passing wider to get around Redlegs’ strong centre structure, resulting in great runs between Lachie Munro and John Clothier, often leading their teammates into the attacking circle resulting in some well-deserved short corners. One of the short corners created an opportunity for the Kingston/Lucindale’s forward line to pass around and utilise their team mates which resulted in Rebecca scoring the first goal for KL Rangers this season.
After halftime, Redlegs came out strong and refreshed, with Jezabel Ingenito making strong tackles and using her passes to her teammates well. Redlegs used wider passes and drove the ball into their attack, acquiring a few short corners against KL Rangers, but were unable to score.
As the last quarter rolled around, Kingston/Lucindale Ranger’s forward line woke up again with Jade Taylor and Bruce Freeman having excellent runs with the ball into their attack. Redlegs stopped these attempts, with Sophie Tate making strong and consistent efforts in defence. Redlegs had lots of midfield and attack in response to Kingston/Lucindale’s attempts at goal, with great running and control of the ball by George Law.
Both teams played amazing and strong, showcasing a great competition!

Kingston/Lucindale v Dartmoor – Women
The warm sun welcomed the Kingston/Lucindale and Dartmoor women’s teams onto the pitch as both were eager to get the job done. The strong defences kept the heavy attack of both teams away for the first half, which was filled with back-and-forth play and amazing saves from both goalies.
The second half was much the same as the first with amazing runs from the Kingston/Lucindale midfield, through to the fill in Dartmoor goalie, Kelly Gale, who with the help of her defence team, was able to keep the ball out of the goals.
Amazing team work from the Kingston/Lucindale midfield saw the ball being passed up the field to meet the attackers, but they were unable to finish. The ball finally met the backboard as Dartmoor’s Jane Agnew scored from a penalty corner earned by her team’s attackers.
The game ended with a 1-0 win for Dartmoor.

Game 1 – Saturday
NDHA Country Women’s team started off their weekend with a tough 4-0 loss to Lower South East. Once early nerves were shaken off, the ladies settled into a good rhythm and pushed hard against one of the toughest opponents in the comp.
Game 2 – Saturday
Second game for the rep side against Whyalla was very evenly matched. The win was up for grabs, but Whyalla managed to take advantage of their chances. 2-1 down, with Eliza Withers scoring NDHA’s first goal for the tournament
Game 3 – Saturday
Last game for the day was against Riverland. Everyone was feeling the strain of the first two games, but the girls fought hard, dominating play at times, but unable to convert chances left the ladies 2-0 down. Last pool game tomorrow morning at 9am v Barossa. Get a good rest ladies, smash it tomorrow!
Game 4 – Sunday
The girls had their final game this morning against Barossa. It was a tough contest, but our ladies were up for a battle. At times it seemed like they were playing against more than 11 opponents……. Fought till the end, final score 3-1, Hunter Adams the goal scorer. A few sore bodies, but I’m sure all revelled in the experience.
Jayne Waters, our champion team manager, the team thanks you.
